Hinckley Town Centre

Shoplifting is a persistent problem in the town centre. Having had a successful last quarter in tackling this issue, we are seeing an emerging trend of offenders using the rail network to travel to Hinckley and commit shoplifting offences.

The Op Detect team are still operating in the town centre and working with retailers to identify and bring to justice those committing retail theft offences. There have been a number of arrests throughout June resulting in the offenders being charged to court.

Anti-social behaviour in open spaces around the town including Argents Mead, the Leisure Centre, and Castle Street. As we move into the summer months, this problem is expected to continue.

Throughout June the beat team have been responding to reports of youths causing anti-social behaviour at an abandoned building. They have also dealt with drug possession in Sainsbury car park where cannabis was seized from individuals in the area.
The team have also attended events in the town centre such as a crime prevention event at Sainsburys, a classic car event, a beat surgery at the leisure centre, and the Music in the Mead event at Argents Mead.

Street drinking is a problem in the town centre, with repeat individuals taking alcohol to Argents Mead and Castle Street, in contravention of the PSPO.
