Theft and shoplifting, particularly on Queens Road.
Issued 01 July 2026
Our Safer Streets team have been working with retailers to increase confidence in reporting crime and ensuring that they are supporting investigations by submitting their CCTV footage. This has resulted in more suspects being identified and dealt with. During June and July, 30 shop thefts were reported on Queens Road and so far we have charged people in relation to 15 of them - with more positive results still to come!
We have also carried out early morning plain clothes patrols, which has resulted in the arrest of regulars that keep returning. One of those was charged and remanded to court due to his persistent offending.
