Your dedicated neighbourhood team
Your Dedicated Neighbourhood Team (DNT) is a group of local police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers based in your area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.
We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

Burglaries –You said that you were concerned about your homes and businesses being subjected to burglary now that the darker nights and morning have arrived.
Action taken:
Throughout October, officers have conducted targeted high-visibility patrols in areas identified as being vulnerable to burglary. Crime prevention advice has been provided to residents and businesses, with officers supporting the force-wide Darker Nights campaign. Patrols have been directed using local intelligence and crime reports, with officers carrying out reassurance visits and engaging with members of the public to discuss crime prevention measures and property security.

Safer Streets – You said you wanted to feel safe when visiting our city during the night time particularly around celebrations such as Halloween and Christmas.
Action taken:
During October, officers have provided high-visibility reassurance patrols across the city centre and Cultural Quarter, particularly during periods of increased footfall associated with Freshers' events and Halloween celebrations. Officers have engaged with businesses, licensed premises and partner agencies to identify and address issues affecting the night-time economy. Patrols have focused on preventing anti-social behaviour, violence and other offences to ensure residents and visitors can enjoy the city safely.

Retail crime – You said that shoplifting was becoming an increasing concern and having a major impact on your businesses.
Action taken:
Throughout October, officers have worked closely with local retailers to identify prolific offenders and gather evidential opportunities. High-visibility patrols have been conducted in retail areas, providing reassurance to staff and deterring offending. The team has progressed investigations into reported shop thefts, supported retailers in crime prevention initiatives and continued work to bring offenders before the courts where sufficient evidence exists.
