Your Dedicated Neighbourhood Team (DNT) is a group of local police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers based in your area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.
We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
Theft from motor vehicles:
You said: Crimes involving motor vehicles are on the rise, including theft from and theft of motor vehicles.
What we are going to do: We have created Op Vow to focus on the areas of high offending, such as public multi-story car parks, and increase patrols. We will also complete enquiries into reported incidents in order to bring offenders to justice.

Update from last months priorities:
Theft from Motor vehicles / of vehicles:
There continues to be an increase in TFMV on the beat and across the city centre, therefore Operation VOW has been put in place for dedicated officers to investigate each crime across NC. The beat team continues to patrol hot spot areas on the beat including the NCP car park and open car parks, continuing to work with businesses and develop intelligence. Officers have also been looking at identifying offenders through CCTV enquiries of the breaks and through card usage. A prolific offender has been arrested and remanded to court. Due to the continued reports this will remain a priority for the beat team.

Anti-social Behaviour in Open Spaces:
You said: ASB in public areas including drug taking and dealing is on the rise and causing issues.
What we are going to do: We will increase our patrols in ASB hot spots, allowing us to engage with the community and provide that visible presence to help prevent incidents from happening.

Update from last months priorities:
Theft of cycles:
Riverside officers have been working closely with the dedicated De Montfort University and Leicester Royal Infirmary Officers patrolling areas whereby cycle thefts have been occurring. On going enquiries in relation to thefts that have occurred including awaiting CCTV to identify those suspects responsible. The beat team have also conducted bike registering events across the beat signing a number of bikes up onto the bike registry database.

You Said: With the new term starting for De Montfort University Students we will be looking at safety in this area.
What we are going to do: Linking in with the dedicated DMU officer and security and arranging engagements at student accommodations to provide crime prevention advice and bike registering .

ASB – including York road:
Beat officers have continued to see a significant decrease in calls and incidents relating to anti-social behaviour, including drug dealing and drug taking. Due to this a new priority will be set for October 2024 which will include anti-social behaviour in open spaces across the beat.
