Youth anti-social behaviour
You said: Coming into summer holidays, youth anti-social behaviour increases due to being out more often

August Update:
The beat team have continued to proactively engage with young people across the area, including through regular engagement at St Andrews Play Association.

Officers have been building and maintaining positive relationships with the staff who work there, allowing them to better understand any emerging issues, develop local intelligence and engage directly with the young people who attend. Building positive relationships with young people is an important part of our approach. By being visible, friendly and taking the time to speak to young people, officers can help to ensure they feel comfortable approaching officers with any concerns or issues affecting them, their friends or their community. Officers have also supported investigations into incidents involving young people in the area. This has included an incident involving a group entering the university premises and causing damage using spray paint. Officers have also been investigating an assault, with CCTV footage currently being obtained and reviewed to assist in identifying those responsible.

The beat team will continue to work with local schools, youth organisations, young people and other partners to identify emerging concerns, develop intelligence and address incidents of anti-social behaviour. Through continued engagement and proactive policing, officers aim to prevent offending, reassure the local community and ensure concerns involving young people are dealt with appropriately.

Theft of cycles/cycle crime
You Said: Summer months mean more people are utilising their bikes to get around and are concerned of having them stolen.

August Update:
The local beat team have increased patrols in identified hot spot areas where cycle thefts have previously occurred. These patrols are aimed at deterring further offences, providing reassurance to the local community and identifying any suspicious activity.

Officers are continuing to develop intelligence around bike thefts and attempt thefts. Where available, CCTV footage and images of individuals believed to be involved are being shared and viewed to assist with identifying potential suspects and linking incidents. The beat team are also supporting investigations into cycle thefts reported within the area. This has included attending locations where bikes have been taken, including shops, gyms and local businesses to obtain and review CCTV footage which may assist in identifying those responsible.

We have also continued to work closely with the security team at De Montfort University (DMU). A dedicated officer works with DMU security to share relevant information, identify emerging trends and coordinate activity to help prevent cycle thefts. This partnership approach allows officers and university security staff to share information promptly, increase awareness of current concerns and support targeted patrols and activity to deter offenders.

Officers have continued to hold bike registration events across the beat, including Thirlmere gardens, castle gardens and a successful event at Leicester Royal infirmary alongside Dr.Bike. These events provide an opportunity for officers to speak directly with cyclists and residents about any concerns they may have, encourage sign-ups to neighbourhood link and support residents in registering their bikes on the nation bike database.

Anti-Social Behaviour at Castle Gardens and Surrounding Areas
You said: Although the park is a nice place to visit, there is still anti-social behaviour happening there in sight of visitors

August Update:
The local beat team have continued to conduct regular foot patrols around castle gardens and the surrounding area. These patrols are intended to provide reassurance to residents, businesses and users of the park and surrounding areas, while also allowing officers to respond directly to local concerns. Following reports from local businesses officers have opened a report which allows us to work with partnership agencies to tackle issues. Work is continuing to
identify those potentially responsible, with officers gathering information and developing intelligence to support further action. The beat team have also continued to work closely with student accommodations and residents to understand how the situation is developing. Building positive relationships with those living and working in the area is helping officers to gather valuable intelligence and ensure local concerns are being appropriately addressed.
Officers have also continued to carry out targeted operations in and around castle gardens. This work is focused on addressing the concerns raised locally, tackling anti-social behaviour and providing reassurance to those using the park. We will continue to monitor the situation and work with residents, businesses and partner organisations to address ongoing concerns in the area.
