Your Dedicated Neighbourhood Team (DNT) is a group of local police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers based in your area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.
We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
SAFETY ON YOUR ROADS: Every quarter, the Rural North Beat Team review the priorities and what matters to you. This is done through social media, neighbourhood link surveys, community consultations and more. Road Safety is something that is raised often and remains a policing priority for the area.
As part of the latest quarterly review, this priority will remain in place from January 2025, until the next quarterly review in April.
Issued 09 April 2025
The issue of road safety remains a priority for the Rural North beat area.
Unfortunately there have been a number of serious collisions recently, one of which sadly occurred on the rural north beat area.
I have recently undergone training to allow me to use a new handheld speed monitoring device which will be utilised on the beat in the near future to reduce certain types of offending.
Patrols also continue to be carried out in relation to reports of weight limit breaches and speeding.

BURGLARIES AND RURAL CRIME: the rural north beat, as the name suggests, is largely rural and we understand that thefts from individuals and businesses has a huge impact on not just the individuals themselves but also to the wider area and sometimes local industry. From listening to you, Hare coursing, Burglaries, thefts from farms and agricultural vehicles and heritage crime are just some of the rural issues that will remain a priority. As part of a quarterly review, this priority will remain in place from January 2025, until the next quarterly review in April.

What we are going to do: We will continue patrols in isolated rural areas and visit victims of crime and carry out all viable lines of enquiry. We will also target those patrols based on current crime trends and intelligence.
The beat team were involved in assisting investigations into residential burglaries that occurred in Waltham in the Wolds and Harby.
Thankfully over the last month, Rural Crime across the Rural North beat has seen a decrease but we will continue to update you on any and all changes in these trends..
