Your Dedicated Neighbourhood Team (DNT) is a group of local police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers based in your area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.
We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
Drug dealing (South Highfields including Lincoln Street, Conduit Street, College St, Upper Tichborne Street)
Issued 01 October 2026
Persons linked to suspected drug supply, frequent short-stay visitors at identified addresses, and street-based drug transactions occurring at key locations.
High-visibility and plain-clothed patrols were deployed across the affected streets at varying times to disrupt criminal activity, gather intelligence and provide reassurance to local residents. Officers conducted numerous stop searches under the Misuse of Drugs Act where grounds existed, resulting in the seizure of controlled substances and the development of further intelligence regarding local drug networks.
Warrants at addresses suspected of being involved in the supply of Class A and Class B drugs. Where evidence was obtained, offenders were arrested, interviewed and progressed through the criminal justice process.
Partnership work was undertaken with Leicester City Council, housing providers and community stakeholders to identify and address locations being used for drug dealing and drug use. Environmental improvements, including clearing overgrown areas, improving lighting and addressing insecure premises, were implemented where appropriate to reduce opportunities for criminality.
Community engagement was carried out through ward meetings, resident discussions and engagement events, enabling local concerns to be gathered and intelligence opportunities identified. Residents were encouraged to report incidents and provide information anonymously through appropriate channels.
The area continues to be monitored through regular intelligence reviews, directed patrol plans and ongoing problem-management activity to ensure sustained disruption of drug-related offending and to improve community confidence.

A problem-solving approach was adopted to address anti-social behaviour, drug-related activity, and environmental concerns affecting the St James Road and Abingdon Road area. Recognising the longer-term issues affecting the location, work was also undertaken with support services and partner agencies to engage individuals experiencing homelessness, substance misuse and vulnerability. Appropriate referrals were made to ensure support and safeguarding opportunities were considered alongside enforcement activity.
The location continues to be monitored through ongoing problem-management processes, directed patrol plans and partnership meetings to ensure sustained reductions in anti-social behaviour, drug-related activity and environmental concerns, whilst improving the overall quality of life for the local community.
