Particular areas of concern include Abingdon Road (large numbers of young people gathering but numbers reducing), St James Rd and Evington Rd (street drinking), Onslow Park, picked up from patch walks with multi-agencies, patrols, and Cllr meetings
Issued 30 June 2025
In the April update we informed you that six Community Protection Notice Warnings (CPNWs) were issued to persistent local street drinkers. After a notable dip in street drinking activity from the exclusion zones imposed, we have had another spike. PCSO Trantom has sought advice from our own ASB team and we will be taking the lead on further CPNWs. PS Brown was crewed up with PCSO Trantom on foot patrol last week and we issued three verbal ASB warnings on Body Worn Video. We then arranged for a large bed (the males were using to sleep on in the street) to be removed from St Stephen’s Road and a mattress near Onslow Park to be removed by the Council. The second stage of consultation for the Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO), which targets anti-social street drinking, starts in August. Residents will have their opportunity to give their views as each household will be written to by the Council.
We have had several reports of issues on St James Road which includes noise, ASB, drug dealing and concerns over supported living locations. This weekend PC Woolley and Response officers went to an emergency call to support staff as a male was ‘on a rampage’, causing damage, and self-harming. The male had fled the address was located and arrested. I know that PC Patecka has also been working hard to build relationships with isolated young people who live on the street and supporting them.
The next ward meeting for your diaries is **Wednesday 13th August, 6pm** at the Bowling Club on Kimberley Road. This will be an excellent chance for residents to engage, ask questions, and help continue the momentum in reducing crime further.
Please do report any ASB issues through to us via 101 or by emailing [email protected]

Drug dealing (Abingdon Rd, Evington Footway, St James Rd), associated noise and accessing communal blocks (St Albans), littering of drugs packaging in open areas (Abingdon Road, Onslow Park) and Lincoln Street
Issued 30 June 2025
The team have been joined by our new Police Constable Maddy Robinson. She brings an added pro-active approach to drug-related criminality and is keen to disrupt the illegal activity on our streets. During the summer we will be working with the Neighbourhood Priority Team on the beat especially. They have had further success on the beat. They have summonsed a male to court for Possession with Intent to Supply Cannabis. The male was observed by officers on Herschell Street to conduct a drug deal. When officers went to intercept him, he slipped over and spilled his goods onto the street and was promptly arrested.
On a separate matter, the NPT swiftly put together a search warrant application for an address on Avon Street. A male had been released early from prison and information came in he was actively dealing drugs again. The warrant found a decent amount of cocaine and 50 wraps of cannabis. The male has been charged and remanded to prison.
On Bodnant Avenue, PC Woolley and PC L’homme checked on an address previously linked to cannabis production. Spotting unusual activity, they used their police powers to force entry and discovered a cannabis grow of 600 plants! After quite an effort and working with National Grid we cleared the grow. This was of significant value and has hit the pockets of the criminals hard. The team are now dealing with the owner of the property and a resident’s meeting is being arranged.
The team had a search warrant application refused for a particular address off London Road but we continue to build more intelligence. PS Brown is in conversation with the local Councillor about a further pod camera in the area to help deter and detect crime.
Remember, you can report to Crimestoppers www.crimestoppers-uk.org 0800 555111 or their youth service Fearless.
Life Safe www.livesafe.org.uk provides a lot of information for young people, parents and carers, about criminal exploitation, gangs, substances use, and healthy relationships.

Road Safety, parking and Speeding. In particular, zig zag parking on Evington Road, junction blocking off this main strip, and speeding on Key streets including Evington Lane and Stoughton Drive North leading to Evington Road
Issued 30 June 2025
Sgt Brown has met with Councillor Mohammed and has had an update from the Council. We understand that the residents’ parking scheme surrounding Evington Road is not far off being finalised and signed off. Traffic flow is problematic on Evington Road, especially at peak times. The bus bay parking enforcement ANPR camera has been active since 23rd May with the possibility of a further camera being installed. We understand that further consultation will be going out about the proposed Red Route along Evington Road.
Traffic /traffic calming update. There has been a schedule of work signed off for Kingsway Road and Stoughton Dr North and with speed bumps on Ethel Rd, Evington Drive (near, Evington Valley Road). Hopefully this will address concerns of speeding.
A reminder to all residents and visitors that inconsiderate parking may incur penalties. Evington Road and the corners have no waiting at any time and the lines have been re-painted.
